Homeplace Psychology (Melissa Mae Kate Anne Wyllie, ABN 63 857 584 778) (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, and the APS Code of Ethics.

We collect personal and health information that is necessary for providing psychological services. This may include:

Date of birth and Medicare details
Billing information
Information relevant to your care, assessment, and treatment
We collect this information directly from you (e.g. forms, appointments, website enquiries, phone/email contact) or, with your consent, from authorised third parties (e.g. GPs, carers, referrers).
2. Health Information
Health information is collected and stored to deliver safe and effective psychological services. We follow the APS Code of Ethics and Health Privacy Principles to ensure confidentiality.
We may disclose information only:
With your consent
If required by law or court order
If there is an immediate risk of serious harm
As required by AHPRA mandatory reporting obligations
De-identified when consulting in supervision to ensure best service to you
You can request access to your records, and we will correct inaccuracies where needed.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information may be used to:
Arrange and deliver psychological services
Communicate with you and send appointment reminders
Process billing and Medicare claims
Manage referrals and professional correspondence
Improve our services (including optional use of secure AI-based admin tools – de-identified unless you consent otherwise)
We do not use or share your health information for marketing.
4. Storage and Security
Records are stored in Halaxy, a secure, Australian-based cloud platform.
Access is restricted to authorised staff and protected by passwords and encryption.
We may retain and use de-identified data for quality improvement.
If a notifiable data breach occurs, we will follow the OAIC guidelines and notify you where required.
5. Telehealth & Online Services
If you use telehealth, we use Zoom Health, which includes encryption and security features. While all reasonable precautions are taken, no online system is entirely risk-free.
Our website may use cookies for basic functionality. You can disable cookies in your browser, but this may affect performance.
6. Disclosure to Third Parties
We will only share your personal information when:
You have given consent
It is required by law
It is necessary to provide services (e.g. liaising with your GP)
It is required in a transfer of care (e.g. if your psychologist leaves our practice, with your consent)
